I get people from different groups together. We address one of the most important issues of the day - sustainability - or the integration of environment, economic and social decision-making. The groups I work with include lawyers, politicians, government departments, faith groups, environmental non-government groups, academics, community groups and corporations. Together we develop the basis - research and networking - for effective, long-term policies to support sustainability and which provide the most benefit for the most people. We try to get beyond our own self interest. As a Quaker I help resolve conflicts. I am currently clerk of the Canadian Quakers. Until June 2009 I was Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Environmental Law and Policy - www.cielap.org. I am currently a Senior Advisor - Sustainability with CIELAP. I have also worked in the fields of international development (community development in Southern Africa) and human rights (legal defence and humanitarian aid to the victims of apartheid in southern Africa).
